I knew I wanted to come to the NIH because working here would mean I could have some impact on their AIDS research programs.
What kind of work do you do at the NIH?
I am the Budget Officer for NLM. As such, I can influence the funding levels for the Extramural, Intramural and Research Management Support (RMS) budgets. I work with a great team of professionals and dedicated employees supporting the NIH mission.
What message would you like to send to young Hispanics who are considering going to college?
A college education has allowed me to work in Europe and many states in the USA. A college education will open many doors but after that, it is up to your hard work and dedication as to how high you will advance in your career. You can accomplish whatever dreams you have. Be patient and persistent. Yes, you can do it.
