Florida Atlantic University (BBA) & American University (MPA)

What gained you interest in the NIH?

NIH gained my interest because of the incredible work the agency does for public health. Our nation’s medical research agency is also a placed filled with diverse growth opportunities

What kind of work do you do at the NIH?

I am a Grants Management Specialist in the Grants Management Program (GMP) at NIAID.

What message would you like to send to young Hispanics who are considering going to college?

Do it! Despite the challenges you will face, in terms of affordability, juggling work and school, the long hours of studying, etc. it will pay off in the end. As the daughter of one parent who did go to college and another parent who didn’t I have seen the difference it has made in their families. Don’t let anyone tell you can’t. The time will pass anyway, and at the end of those 4+ years you will have an education and degree no one can take away from you.
