Power Words

Power Words: Spanish:
Futuro Brillante, No te Rindas!
Power Words: English:
Brighter Future, Never Give Up!

Where were you born?

Miami, Florida (Cuban Parents)

What school did you attend?

University of South Florida, John Hopkings University

What gained you interest in the NIH?

It was by chance. I was hired by the NIH Clinical Center Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a temporary 6 month project to design and build a new system for the Laboratory of the hospital. The project later turned into an excellent offer to stay as a permanent employee of the hospital's IT department.

What kind of work do you do at the NIH?

I design and build new computer information systems to support the mission of the NIH. This requires good listening skills, good communication skills, excellent collaboration and customer service skills.

What message would you like to send to young Hispanics who are considering going to college?

College is your guarantee to a brighter future. Don't let anyone discourage you, or say you are not good enough. You don't have to ace each class, but you have to finish. Never give up!
