LGBTI Research About

The Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) Research Coordinating Committee (RCC)

The Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) Research Coordinating Committee (RCC), formerly the LGBTI RCC, is a trans-NIH committee that collaborates and coordinates research and activities across NIH that relate to the health of SGM populations, and also interfaces with other federal agencies on SGM-related issues. Under the leadership of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), SGM RCC activities include holding listening sessions with stakeholders to gather input on specific SGM health priorities, completing a portfolio analysis of NIH-funded SGM health research, and developing the NIH SGM Health Research Strategic Plan. The SGM RCC meets monthly to discuss health issues for SGM communities, develop research and training initiatives, and provide ongoing support to ensure SGM health research needs continue to be part of NIH’s research and training programs. Please feel free to contact the SGM RCC with comments or questions at: sgmhealthresearch@od.nih.gov.
