Brand Manager

Akeira Jennings joins the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as a Brand Manager. As a passionate public servant with a deep-seated love of writing, project management, and service, she brings over seven years of experience crafting public relations strategies, monitoring campaign executions, and streamlining client relations processes to maximize productivity.

She began her federal career at the Social Security Administration in 2016, working as a Claims Specialist in the Office of Central Operations (OCO). Akeira also served as a Human Resources Specialist in the Employee Development and Training Branch (EDTB) and most recently in the Office of Communications as a Public Affairs Specialist where she managed the content on the Public Affairs Resource Center website.

Although she grew up in Chicago and earned a degree in Journalism and International Studies from Butler University, Akeira moved to Baltimore, Maryland, to earn a Master's degree in Communications from Johns Hopkins University.

Through her education and study abroad experiences, Akeira created engaging marketing materials and persuasive communication strategies to reach over 3,000 culturally diverse passengers weekly as a Marketing and Art Sales Specialist for Princess Cruises. Additionally, her experiences assisted her in promoting and gaining corporate support for The International Center's 2014 Citizen of the Year Award Ceremony and OCO's IFOCUS cultural values initiative, for which she received an Associate Commissioner Citation for her work on the Communications team.

Akeira enjoys traveling, taking walks with her miniature Goldendoodle, and volunteering with local non-profit organizations in her free time.
