From the EDI Director: 2020 National Native American Heritage Month

Treava Hopkins-Laboy

Dear NIH,

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is pleased to recognize National Native American Heritage Month (NNAHM). This year's theme is "Celebrating Hope, Honoring Resiliency, and Engaging Tribal Nations." The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recognizes and appreciates the vibrant cultures and traditions Native Americans contribute to America's fabric. Please join us in celebrating influential Native American leaders from the past and present who have enriched our heritage and added to our society's aspects.

EDI reaffirms its commitment to diversity and inclusion as integral parts of the NIH. We embrace our responsibility to develop and sustain a safe workplace that shares mutual respect and purpose for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, traditions, cultures, and experiences. EDI remains committed to advancing equitable opportunities, policies, and practices that support and preserve the dignity of those we employ and those we serve.

To learn more about NNAHM, I encourage you to visit the Native American Portfolio Page and follow Twitter and Instagram accounts. On behalf of EDI, we thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Treava Hopkins-Laboy
Acting EDI Director
