HHS Launches Demographic Survey

HHS Logo

On July 20, 2016, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will launch a voluntary HHS-wide survey to update the system of records for Race, National Origin and Disability status of all HHS employees.

The Human Resources data systems contain race, national origin, and disability status information for all HHS employees. To realize the Department’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) responsibilities and comply with affirmative employment requirements, HHS must have current, complete and accurate data on the race, national origin and disability designations of its employees. As this is private and sensitive information, a number of safe guards and procedures are in place to protect your information from unauthorized use or access. Please note that, in most instances, HHS employees only provide these types of information during the onboarding process and it is often not updated unless a survey like this is conducted..

This important employee data is used for statistical reporting purposes to the Office of Personnel Management, to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and in the Department’s recruiting efforts. The Pi Survey resides in a protected environment and contains measures to prevent a breach of the information collected. Since the data collected is Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and any unauthorized release of this data would violate the HHS IT Privacy Policy. Please see below for the link to the HHS Cybersecurity Program:

All Federal HHS employees will receive an email announcing that the Pi Survey will be a link on their AMS homepage. The Pi survey will be accessible to all federal HHS employees through their AMS homepage. Employees must be on the HHS network to access the survey and must authenticate with either a One Time Password or PIV. Another email will be sent closer to the survey release date.

The Pi Survey opens on July 20, 2016, and closes on August 20, 2016.
