From the EDI Director: EDI 2018 National Native American Heritage Month

Debra C. Chew Esq.

Dear NIH,

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is proud to recognize November as National Native American Heritage Month (NNAHM). During this time, we pay tribute and honor the rich ancestry and traditions of American Indians and Alaska Natives. This year’s theme is "Leading the Way to a Healthier Future.” NIH honors individuals who have made notable contributions to better health and our community.

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) takes pride in the work we do each day because our goal is to create an inclusive workplace at the NIH. This month is a time to demonstrate the NIH’s commitment to diversity and Equal Employment Opportunities. Please show your support of EDI programs and initiatives by contributing to the EDI Game Changes and Change Agents campaigns. I encourage you to individually and, in your communities, celebrate Native American Heritage Month by taking a moment to personally thank a member of the community who is serving or has served in Public Service.

For more information about NNAHM and other EDI 365 events, visit EDI’s Native American Portfolio page. You can also follow EDI on Twitter and Instagram. On behalf of the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, we thank you for your service!

Sincerely yours,

Debra Chew, Esq.
EDI Director
